Antique Ivory Tatting Shuttle
I really have to show you a very special present for me, it is a gorgeous Ivory Carved Tatting Shuttle.......Dont get me wrong I dont agree to any kind of poaching of animals to make items for sale as I love all animals... but this was made in the 1800's when this kind of thing was acceptable.
I have had this on my wish list for many years but never imagined that I would ever have one so I am very happy with it...hope that you folks like it.

That really is a treasure!!!! I'm so glad you won this one, Joy! As we had said in emails I had bid on this one and stopped when I saw the horn with shell inlay...I'm so very glad that it went to you! Congratulations! :D

Glad you have this lovely shuttle! A lovely shuttle for a lovely lady. :-)
I think it's lovely - I actually have in my home an entire elephant tusk with silver fittings at each end - also dating from the 19th century and left to me by my great uncle!
It would make a lot of tatting shuttles, wouldn't it! - but I don't think anyone would be able to do that for me!
